Privacy and terms

The app

  • No account, no server and no telemetry. NoteVault sends Lessteps no data about you or how you use the app.
  • Your data is files you own. It lives in the folder you choose (the vault), on your computer.
  • AI is optional. Only if you turn it on, the text you ask to process is sent to the provider you choose (for example DeepSeek, OpenAI, Google or Anthropic) and is subject to their terms. With a local model, nothing leaves your computer.
  • API keys. They are stored in plain text in ~/.notevault/settings.json, outside the vault. Protect that file and never upload it to a repository.
  • External links. The app's links (for example the support notice) open in your browser. Each site's own policies apply there.
  • Support notice. The app shows, at most once every 14 days, a notice inviting you to support the project. “Don't show again” turns it off. That preference is stored only on your computer.

This website

  • It uses no tracking cookies and no analytics of its own.
  • It is hosted on Cloudflare, which may log technical visit data (such as IP address) to provide and protect the service, per its privacy policy.

Donations

Payments via PayPal or Nequi/Bre-B are processed by those services, not by this site. Lessteps only sees what those services report (for example the name and amount of a donation). A donation is voluntary, is not a purchase and does not entitle you to extra features.

Terms

NoteVault is provided “as is”, without warranty, under the GPL-3.0-or-later license (see License). Back up your vault: you are responsible for your data. The exercise instructions have not been reviewed by health professionals, and nothing in the app is medical, financial or legal advice.
